About Rondi Lightmark

Rondi Lightmark I'm a photographer living on Vashon Island, a dot of land in Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. Like my personality, I have a wide variety of responses to the images I take. Sometimes I use filters to push an image in a direction that I feel best expresses what I want to say. The greatest body of my work has been based on images of dogs in cars, a project begun in 2005 and which turned into my greeting card company Lightmark Press (http://lightmarkpress.com). I sell via sales reps in galleries and giftshops across the U.S. and in Canada and have a lot of fun connecting with people who like my images and words. This website gives me an opportunity to also provide prints to my customers who request them, and I'm grateful for this.

Needless to say, I love dogs, and cats too. They make wonderful subjects, warming the heart and tickling the funny bone. My greatest joy is when my work ends up on the walls of senior citizen homes, where the nurses tell me that even people with dementia "wake up" and become communicative when they see them.

My love of the image is not limited to animals though. I guess I consider myself a storyteller. So my subjects are also people and nature, as well as any setting that inspires me on my travels.
